State of South Carolina York County

Know all men by these present that Whereas Ratterree & Dunlop has agreed to advance to the undersigned Thomas Whitesides residing in York County in the said state and engaged in the cultivation of the soil in the county of York such sums of money and provisions as the undersigned may from time to time require in the cultivation of his crop to the limit of three hundred dollars.

It is hereby agreed by and between the said Ratterree & Dunlop shall have a lien upon the crop which may be made during the present year, upon the lands in the cultivation of which the undersigned is engaged. Which lien shall be in preference of all other, liens existing or otherwise or which may hereafter be given by or obtained against the undersigned. The crop of so much as will pay the amount advanced to be delivered to the said Ratteree & Dunlop on or before the l5th day of act next.

This agreement made in pursuance of the provisions of an act of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina Entitled an act to secure advances for agricultural purposes passed the 20th day of September A.D. 1866 in witness whereof the undersigned has hereunto set his hand & seal this 20th day of May 1869.
