ERA Ratification Map by State: 1972–82

Between 1972 and 1982, supporters of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) lobbied, marched, rallied, petitioned, picketed, went on hunger strikes, and committed acts of civil disobedience. However, even after a three-year extension of the ratification deadline for the ERA, only 35 of the necessary 38 states ratified the bill.
