Banknote: Maryland, July 26, 1775, back
The back of the bill depicts America and Britannia sharing an olive branch of
peace, and the motto Pax Triumphis Potior (Peace is preferable to
victory). The name on the left side of the bill, T SPARROW, identifies Thomas
Sparrow as the engraver of this woodcut. The initials FG on the bottom left
corner stand for the printer Frederick Green.
